13 HINTS:
  • Keep the"M"word alive: Attend meetings that your Federal or State officials host, and share with them and their staff members your personal story and the extreme health hazards about mercury dental fillings. Give them a packet of information including articles and facts about the dangers of mercury fillings. (See CDC's Press Room)
    Amalgam Materials Safety Data Sheets

  • Keep the"M"word alive: When you see an article about mercury in fish, toxins, right to know, mercury in the environment or other topics in your local or national newspaper, or magazine, write a letter to the editor.

  • Keep the"M"word alive: Most papers have limit on text, so try and keep your letter to the word limit of that paper so you have a better chance of getting your letter published.

  • Keep the"M"word alive: Encourage family and friends to write letters to show that there is an active movement in your area.

  • Keep the"M"word alive by encouraging family and friends to write letters to support any anti-mercury letters that appear in your newspaper.

  • Keep the"M"word alive: Write a letter to your local community papers about this long ignored health issue. Try to get articles in newspapers to educate the public, no matter how small the paper may be. Some small free papers reach 20,000 - 50,000 people.

  • Keep the"M"word alive: Call a reporter from your local paper and share a story idea - "Mercury in dental fillings" or "How my mercury fillings made me sick" or "The movement is coming, where is my state on this important issue of mercury dental fillings", or "You had a right to know that those silver amalgam fillings are 50% mercury". . . .just pick up the phone and start sharing and talking . . .

  • Keep the"M"word alive: Join Toastmasters, a speech club usually available in most areas, or other such organizations. This is a great place to share, because you have a captive audience and they have to listen to you. Join and share!

  • Keep the"M"word alive: After Toastmasters, contact local organizations and clubs and let them know that you are available to speak about this long ignored health issue.

  • Keep the"M"word alive: Call into radio talk shows and health radio talk programs and talk about mercury dental fillings.

  • Keep the"M"word alive: Suggest and help students write reports on mercury dental fillings for their school assignments.
NOTE: I have had one college student do a speech on mercury dental fillings, another college student did a term paper, one did a paper and speech, and another created a debate on the subject of "abolishing mercury fillings," and the class voted to abolish them - yeah! A young student saw an article in the paper about mercury dental fillings and presented it to her class and my 10 year old grandson wrote about my activism for his homework.

  • Keep the"M"word alive: Make business cards with mercury dental fillings facts and some webpages like www.toxicteeth.org, www.amalgam.org and other sites that you like so people can start learning more about it.

  • Keep the"M"word alive: Put a sign in your car window that says "Mercury Free and Healthy www.amalgam.org" or "Say NO to mercury dental fillings www.toxicteeth.org", available by calling DAMS (651) 644-4572.

If you have additional suggestions and/or would like to be involved in the grass roots movement to ban the use of mercury in dentistry, please contact me: lindabrocato@aol.com.
