Our campaign to phase out amalgam use now reaches into the G7 – the world's seven major economies. In response to the European Union regulation we won requiring Member States to submit a national amalgam plans, the government of Italy has announced that it will phase out amalgam use by 31 December 2024!
Italy is the first Mediterranean nation to phase out amalgam. It joins a long list of European countries to end amalgam use or announce a specific phase-out date, including Norway, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Moldova.
